PALATINE, Ill. – Harper sophomore third baseman Kurt Becker (Palatine, Ill./Palatine) has been named the NJCAA Division III National Player of the Week.

Becker was selected based on his performance in seven games from March 31-April 6. He was a big reason the Hawks went a perfect 7-0 in those games, hitting .545 (12-for-22) with a homer, eight RBIs, 16 runs scored and five stolen bases.

For the year, Becker is hitting a robust .544 (fourth in the nation) with three homers, 16 RBIs and eight stolen bases in 17 games. Becker also has six doubles and a triple and has only been hitless in one game while posting a .576 OBP and .842 slugging percentage.

"It doesn't surprise me he is doing well because of how hard he has worked in the fall and winter," said headCliff Brown. "It's been awesome to watch, and I think his success is pushing his teammates to get even better."
