PALATINE, Ill. – The Harper College women's basketball team is seeking their first victory of the season as they host Moraine Valley tonight at 5 PM. The Hawks lost to Illinois Central on Tuesday to fall to 0-3 on the season while the Cyclones beat Kennedy-King College 59-55 on Nov. 5 to improve to 2-1.
Last Meeting
Last season's matchup on Dec. 20 was cancelled due to inclement weather. The two teams last met on Nov. 15, 2011, a game won by Moraine Valley.
Key Players
Sophomore center Monica Hinderer (Arlington Heights, Ill./The Willows Academy) is averaging a double-double with 17.3 PPG and 12.7 RPG. Point guard Rachel Payne (Wheeling, Ill./Schaumburg Christian Academy) (12.3 PPG, 4.3 RPG) and guard Shante Hill (/Hoffman Estates) (12.0 PPG) are the Hawks' second and third scoring options. Kelli Berglund (/Wheeling) (6.0 PPG) will also provide a threat as a shooter.
For the Cyclones, Maggie Yandel is their go-to option, scoring 21.3 PPG, 11th best in the nation at the Div. II level. Samantha Holler (8.3 PPG) and Aileen Gorman (8.0 PPG) also pose threats on the offensive end while Jamilla Jones (8.0 RPG) leads the team in rebounding.
