NORTHFIELD, Mass. – The Harper College women's cross country team took sixth place out of 12 teams at the NJCAA Championships on Saturday. The team scored 166 points to finish just ahead of seventh place team Howard Community College (172 points).
NORTHFIELD, Mass. – The Harper College women's cross country team took sixth place out of 12 teams at the NJCAA Championships on Saturday. The team scored 166 points to finish just ahead of seventh place team Howard Community College (172 points).
Stephanie Chaires (Palatine, Ill./Christian Liberty) was Harper's top runner once again, finishing the challenging 5K course in 22:37 for a 23rd place out of 97 total runners. Marisa Andreuccetti (Elk Grove Village, Ill./Conant) was not far behind, capturing 31st place in a time of 23:19. Mary Piltaver (/Conant) took 37th place with a time of 23:37.
Lori Delfin (/Wheeling) and Gabby Beaupre (Elk Grove Village, Ill./Elk Grove) rounded out the top five with 49thplace (24:17) and 75th place (26:33) finishes. Cindia Salgado (Wheeling, Ill./Wheeling) finished the course in 27:18 for a 83rd place finish.
"I thought they all did really well," said Harper head coach Jim Macnider. "They got out together and were running together."
Ocean County College took top team honors, placing all five runners in the top-20 and totaling 65 points. Gloucester Community College placed second with 75 points while Suny Delhi was a close third with 78 points.
