PALATINE, Ill. – The Harper College volleyball program bolstered its recruiting class, recently signing Barrington High School standout Sarah Berggren.
Berggren, a 6-foot middle hitter, was a Daily Herald All-Area Honorable Mention selection in 2013 for the MSL champion Fillies. Off the court, the honor roll student and Windy City Power League All-Academic honoree plans on majoring in biology.
"She is a very hard worker. It's like she takes her hard-hat and lunch pail and goes to work," said Harper head coach Bob Vilsoet. "She is a strong hitter, excellent blocker, terrific server and hustles on every point. We are lucky to have her on our team."
Berggren is excited for the opportunity to play with many of her club teammates and for coach Vilsoet.
"He's a really good coach, and he believes in me," she said.
Her mother, Kathy Berggren, expressed confidence in her daughter's decision to come to Harper.
"She really likes playing for coach Bob, and this will be a great experience to have," she said.
