PALATINE, Ill. – Four Harper volleyball players recorded double-doubles to lead the Hawks to a four-set victory (25-19, 25-12, 25-27, 25-17) over visiting College of DuPage in front of a large home crowd Thursday night.
The Hawks (9-8, 2-2 N4C) were led by outside hitter Alex Messner (Hoffman Estates, Ill./Fremd), who was 26-for-28 hitting with 15 kills to go along with 15 digs, while hitter Veronica Dabrowski (Mount Prospect, Ill./Rolling Meadows) totaled 14 kills and 12 digs. Messner also had her jump serve working as she recorded seven service aces.
Setters Valerie Bazemore (Houston, Tex./Keller) and Lindsey Murphy (Lake in the Hills, Ill./Crystal Lake South)each recorded doubles-doubles, as Bazemore had a team-high 26 assists to go with 12 digs and Murphy had 19 assists and 12 digs.
"We passed serves well, hit well, served well, blocked better than we normally do, had 96 digs which is a respectable 24 per set and we had a lot of assists," said Harper head coach Bob Vilsoet. "COD played well against us and put up a very competitive match."
Up next, Harper plays at the Illinois Valley Invitational in Oglesby, Ill. on Saturday. The schedule goes as follows:
