PALATINE, Ill. – The Harper women's soccer team fell 7-0 to No. 6 Rochester Community and Technical College Saturday but rebounded to defeat N4C opponent Triton College 3-2 in a shortened game on Wednesday.
On Saturday, Mikayla Nagle made 19 saves in goal for Harper.
In Wednesday's contest, the Hawks jumped out to an early lead as Nicolette Kruczek (Wonder Lake, Ill./Woodstock North) found the back of the net in the 5th minute. Triton struck back in the 14th as Elizabeth Pineda scored to make it a 1-1 game.
Kruczek scored her second goal of the game in the second half (40th minute) to give the Hawks their second lead of the game. Two minutes later, Stephanie Hurwitz (Rolling Meadows, Ill./Fremd) scored her second goal of the season to extend the advantage to 3-1.
Triton's Bianca Prado scored in the 65th minute to make it a 3-2 game, but the Harper defense tightened up to secure a victory. Lacey Richards (Hobart, Ind./Merrillville) earned the victory in goal for the Hawks with 12 saves.
The game against College of DuPage scheduled for today (Thursday) has been cancelled. The Hawks return to action Friday at home against Morton College for a 4:00 PM game.
