ELGIN, Ill. – Despite a strong second half by the Harper College women's basketball team, they came up short against two-defending defending national champion No. 1 Rock Valley, 93-44.
ELGIN, Ill. – Despite a strong second half by the Harper College women's basketball team, they came up short against two-defending defending national champion No. 1 Rock Valley, 93-44.
The Golden Eagles (12-5, 2-0 N4C) raced out to an early 19-1 lead and never looked back. They stretched the lead to 41-9 late in the first half on a basket by Sam Rundblade (game-high 18 points) and took a 50-16 lead at the break.
The Hawks (2-11, 0-2 N4C) picked it up in the second half and went to the line 29 times in the game, making 15 of those attempts. Rachel Payne (Wheeling, Ill./Schaumburg Christian Academy) led Harper with 16 points and four assists while Monica Hinderer (Arlington Heights, Ill./The Willows Academy) scored 14 points and grabbed 10 rebounds.
The Hawks are back on the court tonight for a non-conference showdown at Richard J. Daley College (3-10).
