PALATINE, Ill. – In her two years wearing a Harper College basketball uniform, Monica Hinderer (Arlington Heights, Ill./The Willows Academy) excelled on the court and in the classroom. For the second straight year she was rewarded by being named N4C Second Team All-Conference.
This season, Hinderer averaged 21.9 points per game (11th in nation) and 14.4 rebounds per game (fourth in nation). She also significantly improved her field goal and free throw percentage from a year ago. Hinderer finished her career with 1,047 points and now is second all-time in scoring in Harper women's basketball history.
She scored a season-high 34 points at Milwaukee on Feb. 15. Her season-high in rebounds was a whopping 23 boards on Jan. 13 against Daley.
Hinderer also developed a consistent jump shot as the season went on, making it more difficult for opponents to guard her. She even expanded her range to the 3-point line, hitting eight 3-pointers. Perhaps her most important attribute was an increased leadership role for the Hawks.
