Maroon 25 47 72 (3-1)
Team LaFayette (Orange) 24 37 61 (2-2)
Big, fast, and strong are the three words you could use to
describe orange team captain LaFayette. A former college player, LaFayette
seemed to fit the mold of LeBron James, especially in a church league against a
maroon team full of unimposing 6-footers.
We struggled at the beginning to contain LaFayette but once
we got into the flow of the game, we took a lead and held a one-point advantage
at the break.
In the second half, we came out firing, draining treys left
and right. We took a 15-point lead, they cut it down to six or so, and then we
built it right back up with more daggers from deep. With a big cushion, they
once again cut down the lead, but we again responded with some huge shots to
put the game away.
At many points in the game, this was a one-man show for the
orange team. While LaFayette had point guard and sidekick Roy to pick up some
of the scoring slack, the orange squad looked more like LeBron’s Cavs than the
Miami Heat with James, Dwayne Wade, and Chris Bosh.
We once again proved that a team effort can and will get the
job done.
