Crist and Dollar Land on Big South All-Conference Singles Team

Liberty women's tennis players Evangeline Crist and Anna Dollar were both picked to the Big South Conference Second Team All-Conference Singles list in the league's release of award winners, Wednesday afternoon.

Crist, a Big South First Team All-Conference Singles team selection in 2016, makes her second appearance on the all-conference squad in as many years. The Lilburn, Ga., native has 12 wins to her credit, this spring.

Crist went 5-2 in Big South singles play and perhaps her biggest win was a come-from-behind three-setter (1-6, 6-4, 6-4) in the No. 2 singles flight over Charleston Southern's Nicolin Luecke, helping Liberty to victory over the Bucs and clinching a share of the Big South Conference regular-season title.

Crist has 16 singles wins this season, including fall competition, and is third in program history with 66 singles victories in a Liberty uniform. The junior has also collected 18 doubles triumphs this season and is tied for third in program history with 73 doubles wins.

Crist is the fourth Lady Flame to make multiple appearance on the all-conference singles team during her career.

Dollar, a Big South Second Team All-Conference Doubles team selection in 2016, has elevated her singles play this season with 13 victories in the spring, including an 8-2 mark in the No. 3 spot in the lineup (.800 winning percentage, second in Big South for No. 3 singles flight). The sophomore posted a 6-1 mark in Big South singles competition, helping the Lady Flames (7-1 Big South) to a share of the conference's regular-season crown for a second consecutive season.

A native of Lancaster, Pa., Dollar possesses 15 total singles wins and has won seven of her last 10 matches heading into the Big South Women's Tennis Championship. She also owns a team-best 19 doubles victories during her sophomore campaign.

This is the fourth time in program history that multiple Lady Flames have earned all-conference for singles, including the second season in a row.

Liberty women's tennis senior Emily Groeneveld earned a spot on the Big South All-Academic team. The Fort Lauderdale, Fla., native owns a 3.95 GPA so far at the graduate level and is obtaining her master's degree in human services counseling: crisis response & trauma. She posted a 3.92 undergrad GPA and completed a bachelor's degree in communications with emphasis on psychology and family and child development in the spring of 2016.

Winthrop sophomore Lauren Proctor was selected as the Big South Women's Tennis Player of the Year. Teammate Alisa Soloveva was voted the Big South Women's Tennis Freshman of the Year, while Charleston Southern's Mike Baker was tabbed the Big Women's Tennis Coach of the Year. Charleston Southern senior Nicolin Luecke was chosen as the Big South Scholar-Athlete of the Year for a second straight season.

Liberty Women's Tennis Head Coach Jeff Maren's Lady Flames, who are the No. 3 seed for the 2017 Big South Women's Tennis Championship, will play a quarterfinal match against No. 6 seed Campbell, Friday at noon at the Wake Forest Tennis Complex in Winston-Salem, N.C.
