Harper Falls in Four Sets to Rock Valley

PALATINE, Ill. – The Harper College volleyball team fell in four sets (15-25, 26-24, 19-25, 17-25) to defending national champ Rock Valley College in its home opener Tuesday night.

The Hawks (4-3, 0-1 N4C) had 37 kills in the match, but they committed 30 crucial hitting errors.

Lindsey Murphy (Lake in the Hills, Ill./Crystal Lake South) recorded her first double-double of the season with 14 digs and 28 assists, while Melina Villaber (Chicago, Ill./Taft) led a balanced Harper attack with nine kills and added 18 digs.

Veronica Dabrowski (Mount Prospect, Ill./Rolling Meadows) was 11-for-12 serving with a team-high three aces. Four Hawks reached double digits in digs, led by Villaber and Kelly Spychala (Des Plaines, Ill./Elk Grove), who also tallied 18.

The N4C matchup between Harper and Triton scheduled for 6:00 PM tonight has been cancelled. The Hawks return to action Saturday at the UW – Whitewater Volleyball Invitational beginning at 9:00 AM and will play four matches throughout the day.
