PALATINE, Ill. – The Harper College men's soccer team earned an emphatic 6-1 victory over visiting Milwaukee Area Technical College on Wednesday to pick up their first win of the season.

The Hawks (1-4, 1-3 N4C) struck early and often against the Stormers, as Andy Carrillo (Hanover Park, Ill./Schaumburg) got the scoring started in the 13th minute on a feed from Luis Vargas (Palatine, Ill./Palatine). Four minutes later, Vargas found Kevin Engrebrtsen for his second goal of the season that put Harper ahead 2-0.

Milwaukee answered with a goal of their own in the 20th minute to cut the Harper lead to 2-1, but the Hawks answered back in the 23rd minute with a goal from Aldo Figueroa (Wheeling, Ill./Buffalo Grove) on a pass from Daniel Swiderski (Chicago, Ill./American School)

Three minutes later, Ryan Murphy (Schaumburg, Ill./Schaumburg) gave the Hawks a 4-1 cushion with an unassisted goal, his fourth goal of the season.

In the second half, Dionissios Chronopoulos (Des Plaines, Ill./Maine West) took over for Sean Cox (Schaumburg, Ill./Conant) in goal and made two saves. Harper continued applying pressure to Milwaukee throughout the second half, as they recorded 14 shots on goal in the game to just three for Milwaukee.

In the 74th minute, Aton Chabo found Rosario Militello (/Jacobs) for his first goal of the season. Six minutes later, Julio Bravo (Hoffman Estates, Ill./Hoffman Estates) scored his first goal of the year on a beautiful feed from Vargas, whose beautiful pass was his third assist of the contest.

Up next, the Hawks look to avenge an early season loss as they travel to Joliet on Sept. 20 to take on Joliet Junior College.
