PALATINE, Ill. – The Harper College softball team picked up two key conference victories over N4C opponent Triton on Tuesday afternoon. The Hawks dominated game one, 11-1, and won in walkoff fashion in game two, 7-6.

In the opener, the Hawks (8-10, 6-5 N4C) scored three times in the first inning to take an early lead. They broke the game open with a six-run second inning, including a three-run homer from first baseman Raegan Fingerman (Fox River Grove, Ill./Barrington), her third of the season.

The Trojans (5-18, 3-11 N4C) scored their lone run of the game of the third inning. Harper padded the lead in the fourth inning with a pair of RBI singles from Alexis Filler (Hanover Park, Ill./Hoffman Estates) and Jaz Skor. Tori Liewergen (Elk Grove Village, Ill./Elk Grove) (5-8) pitched five strong innings for the win, surrendering only one run on three hits.

Game two was much more tightly-contested. Harper got the scoring started in the first as Sam Cummings (Roselle, Ill./Lake Park) hit a two-run home run, her fourth of the season. Triton answered with three runs in the second and extended the advantage to 5-2 with a pair of runs in the top of the fifth.

The Hawks came back with two runs in the bottom of the inning on a Fingerman RBI triple and Cummings RBI single. After the Trojans scored on a wild pitch in the sixth to go up 6-4, Harper knotted the game at 6-6 in the bottom half. Skor shut down Triton in the top of the seventh, setting the stage for a thrilling finish.

Liewergen reached on an error to lead off the inning, and Kaitlyn Keegan (Elk Grove Village, Ill./Elk Grove) followed by laying down a sac bunt that she reached base on because of a low throw from pitcher Hannah Seymore. Skor followed with a sac bunt of her own that the catcher handled and overthrew the first baseman Danielle Trevino, allowing Liewergen to score the winning run from second base.

Skor (3-2) earned the win in the circle, allowing one run over 2 2/3 innings of relief.
