MADISON, Wis. – The Harper
College men's basketball team halted a three-game losing streak with an
84-79 road victory at Madison on Friday night to end the regular season.
The Hawks (16-13, 8-6 N4C) played shorthanded with only seven players suiting up and led 43-38 at halftime. Kevin Sexton (/Prospect) and Kevin Walsh (/St. Viator) each scored 18 points in the game. Bradley Reibel (/Prospect) and Charles Wright (Cheyenne, Wyo./Cheyenne East) scored 17 apiece.
The WolfPack (4-24, 1-13 N4C) cut the Harper lead to 76-74 on a Tanner
Schieve jumper with 2:38 to play, but the Hawks scored on the next
possession as Walsh hit a crucial jumper. Madison trailed by three with
31 seconds to play but could not get any closer.
Brandon Holz scored a game-high 20 points for the WolfPack, whose bench outscored the Hawks' bench 41-10.
The two teams could square off again on Wednesday. Madison hosts a
play-in game on Tuesday against Mid Michigan Community College (14-12).
The winner travels to Harper to take on the Hawks in a Region IV
Quarterfinal matchup Wednesday night at 7 PM.
